split point cloud based on scalar field
Hi Daniel, hope this has not been asked before - I have a point cloud with scalar fields for dip, dipdirection and an numeric index indicating that a cluster of points belong to a single plane/surface (in this case a rock fracture). So there is now many clusters in this point cloud with an individua...

Re: Registration via Latitude/Longitude/Elevation (or SPCS)
Hi Daniel & Igeis Faro Scene certainly allows to export georeferenced point clouds no matter which format. If I understand Igeis corectly, he wants to detect the changes between the two point clouds by having them georeferrenced previously using surveyed spheres, and then calculate the differenc...

Re: Intensity values
Hi Miktha, below is a graph showing intensity versus distance of the scanner to the scanned object. What I have done is that I used a box with four different surfaces and placed it at different distances to the scanner. For each distance I took a scan and plotted the average intensity for each surfa...

Re: Intensity values
Hi mikmik, very good question. So you are after correcting the intensty value of laserscan data in order to use the value as a proxy for differentiating material properties of the scanned object (such as lithologies in rock outcrops). First, this can only work on an individual scan , not on a pointc...

Re: qCANUPO (classifier files, etc.)
Hi, when you say that your mudstone and sandstone is easily distinguishable by photos, that means they have different colours etc. To my understanding CANUPO plugin classifies based on geometries not further attributes. Maybe try to use the intensity value of your TLS data to discriminate between li...

Re: Polyline cornes
Hi Jakob, maybe I did not fully understand your problem, thus, this might be a silly suggestion, but why don't you use cloudcompare to do the terrain model (using "Rasterize" tool), export the dtm as a raster and clip the raster in your CAD. This might be easier and most likely faster too....

Re: export data through FACET
Hi Layla244, please allow me to comment on your questions 2) re normal computation - from what you discribe you want to do, choosing "plane" is good. Re preferred orientation - if your rock face is generally facing x, y or z then you could choose accordingly, if you don't know, you can cho...

Create Plane Tool
Hi, this is more a note than a question. I have been playing with the "Create Plane Tool" and experienced the following: 1. created a plane (dip=0, dipdir=0, width=3, height=10) 2. I edited the plane changing dip and dip direction (dip=30, dipdir=60, width=3, height=10) 3. I edited the pla...

Re: Saclar Field?
Hi Rui, as mentioned before, if you are the lucky owner of an expensive scanner, the software that comes with the scanner may allready have options to correct the intensity values by distance, or atleast your scanner may allow settings without the use of such filters as discribed before. If you have...

Re: Saclar Field?
Hi, scalar fields are a very usefull and powerfull part of CC - they are simply attributes that where generated by your scanner or the scanner software. You can also generate new scalar field or calculate scalar fields in CC. A good example is that you can convert the x,y, z coordinates into scalar ...
