Batch setup for viewing point clouds

Post by scrawford »

I would like to open CloudCompare, open fileA.las and fileB.las with specified offset, and viewport1.bin, color each las by GPS time, and apply the viewport. I'm going to be doing this many times for many files (plus a few more tweaks I skipped here). Is there a way to script this rather than having to manually mouse through everything?

I thought maybe the command line mode could do it but it's focussed on performing processing and doesn't keep cloudcompare open for viewing.

I thought maybe I could generate a project file and edit some parameters, but these are binary rather than something like yaml.

Any suggestions?

Maybe you can take a look at the Python wrapper projects? (CloudCompy which is a kind of advanced command line mode, so I'm not sure you'll be able to control everything) or the Python plugin (internal to CloudCompare). See the section named "Python wrappers for CloudCompare" on the download page.
