Importing Trimble .RWI files

I am new to the scanning world and have just acquired a Trimble TX6 scanner my problem is that it only exports .rwi and .tzf file formats none of these seem to be able to be imported to CloudCompare. I would like to know if there is a solution or reason for this? what I want to do is to be able to register my multiple scans and the only way I seem to be able to do this atm is through Trimble Realworks which is a paid subscription of about $7000 (in Australia) which I cannot justify right now being a beginner.. any help would be apricated..

Trimble as many other manufacturers prefer to keep their data 'closed' and ask there users to use a proprietary ($$$) application to open it. Of course it's also better to store raw data efficiently.

To my knowledge they don't provide an SDK (freely at least) to load their data in an external software.
