Hello.
I am using the FARO X130 laser scanner.
Faro, as all laser scanners produce ground-scaled point clouds, and the Faro Scene doesn't support grid coordinate systems.
I aim to establish a workflow that maintains scans as structured while continuing to utilize bubble views in software like Recap and georeferencing them to a projected coordinate system.
What I was thinking was to apply the scale factor separately in each scan station before registering them.
First attempt: importing the FLS files into Cloud Compare, applying a scale factor in x and y, and saving as e57. The result wasn't a structured scan.
Second attempt: importing the FL files into the scene and exporting as e57. The result is a structured scan. Then imported into Cloud Compare, apply scale, save them, and again, a non-structured scan.
Is there a way to apply a 2D scale factor to a structured E57 and keep it structured after saving?
apply 2d scale to structured point clouds
Re: apply 2d scale to structured point clouds
Which version of CloudCompare were you using?
When importing the FLS file in CC, do the scans (point clouds) have some 'scan grids' in their attributes/properties?
