export 2d floorplan slice, how to

Post by lwmason »

Hello CloudCompare users,
We have attained a Lidar machine from mapping indoor areas. After I load the .LAS file, and attain a successful slice, I am simply trying to take that sliced 2D image and export it in .DWG, .DXF, or SVG, but after make my slice, there appears to be no way to export that image. All buttons are grayed out that pertain to save functions.
Obviously I am missing a process somewhere. I have read similar issues but the authors of those questions are looking for different outcomes. I simply want the first 2D image slice that appears on the screen to export in any of the aforementioned file formats.
I have attached a .PNG file of the image I am trying to export, with all the grayed out function windows.
I am running version 2.11 alpha, 64 bit on a windows 10 machine.
Thank you very much for any help you may provide to this matter.
Regards,
Lem Mason

Ok, when you have the the cross section to achieve the right "slice", you have to 'export' the selection as a new cloud (1st button of the 'Slices' section in the middle).

You can then close the 'Cross section' tool and select the newly created cloud. You should be able to export it as a DXF file.
