Units for Scalar Field

Is there a way to change the units of the scalar field scale? And/or know what it represents? decimal feet? decimal inches? CM or MM?
Ideally, I like to have it in fraction inches.

The units of distances are the same as the points (CC doesn't manage units, it simply loads the coordinates as they are in the input file).

And you can rescale a scalar field (with the 'Edit > Scalar field > Arithmetics' tool)
