Raster Export

Post by Adrianna »

hi,

I just started my adventure with cloud compare and I have two problems:
1. I'm trying to export scalar field as a raster but without any luck.
I used distance tool to measure the distance between point cloud and plane. Now I've got a color map with distances nad I'd like to export it as a raster. I tried to use rasterize tool, but I can export my point cloud only in RGB or with average heights.

2. Also is there any way to change units (from meters to centimeters) and view it on color scale?

I would appreciate any help.

Best regards,
Adrianna

1. Which version are you using? Normally you just have to change the 'active layer' to the scalar field you are interested in (then 'update' the grid), and when exporting the grid to a raster file, you'll have to check 'Export active layer'.

Another option is to check the 'Export all scalar fields' option of course.

2. You can use the 'Edit > Multiply/scale' tool to change the coordinates. And you can rename the active scalar field (Edit > Scalar fields > Rename) to anything you want.

It's not working for me either.

I'm trying to export PCV scalar field.

I'ts the active layer and I select it to be exported, but nothing is exported. Only generates a .tiff when RGB is enabled, but evene RGB + scalar enabled, shows a warning of weird 64b output file would be createda but nothing will be saved.

I see this other user with same issue and there is a bug:
https://cloudcompare.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3619

I'm using 2.11.3 not sure if the fix is included in here, I will try the alpha.

Also noticed that the export name of the raster is raster.tiff ; I guess if I run a batch will overwrite all outputs, but that is another issue ....

With the version 2.12.alpha (online), I am able to export the raster without any warning, and to open it in QGis for instance:
