Hi,
I'm super new to cloudcompare and was wondering if there is a way to quantify the amount of noise within a pointcloud. I have been able to filter out the noise and work out the percentage of points that the algorithm considered noise but I'm looking for a figure which represents the size of the noise (preferably in cm/mm).
Tried conducting a mesh to pointcloud analysis but was unsuccessful. Any advice you could give would be amazing.
Quantifying noise in a Pointcloud
Re: Quantifying noise in a Pointcloud
So, if you only have a point cloud and no reference, the 'roughness' measure could give you some information about the noise: see https://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/i ... =Roughness
And if you have a point cloud, and a reference mesh, then yes, you should be able to compare both with https://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/i ... h_Distance (assuming they are already registered, if not you'll have to do it first!)

Thank you:)
