Calculate Curvature

Post by leni »

Hi

I am currently using a 3D scanner to write a paper on the subject of considering the standardization aspect of earthenware. Therefore, in order to clearly understand the similarities or differences between earthenware excavated at each site, we will compare the degree of curvature of the inside and outside of the earthenware after converting the relics to UNROLL state like FIGURE 3.

I understood the conversion to UNROLL state, but I couldn't understand the part that made the curvature of the earthenware look like a color map.

The author of this article uses the term Sliced Segmental Extraction (SSE), so I wonder if it means cutting and analyzing relics or how to accurately compare the curvature inside and outside the earthenware after converting to UNROLL state.

The original paper is attached to the link below.

Thank you very much for reading such a long letter.

I hope you have a good day today and I look forward to me.

Hum, that's not easy to understand.

I guess they sampled points on the mesh first, then they computed the curvature (with Tools > Other > Compute geometric features).

But what they mean by 'sliced down the center' is really unclear... Maybe using the Cross Section tool?
