Hello all,
There is a very userful tool in CloudCompare for point cloud computation: Geometric features. The geometric features include Roughness, Linearity, Planatiry, etc. And I find there mathmatical equations in paper such as the one below:
GEOMETRIC FEATURES ANALYSIS FOR THE CLASSIFICATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE POINT CLOUDS
In the paper above, "Verticality" is denoted as V = 1 - nz, but I donot understand the meaning of "n" and "z" in this equation.
Do you have any ideas? Thank you.

Definition of Verticality of Geometric Features
Re: Definition of Verticality of Geometric Features
I think it's simply the 'z' component of the normal vector? (and we are speaking about the normal vector of the locally 'least squares' fitted plane)

Thank you Daniel!
