Hi,
I would like to ask you if the ICP tool allows us to register point clouds after the point picking registration with the same DXF based geopoints (it has about only 50 points) I tried it but it doesn't work at all.Maybe the big difference between the point amounts is the problem?
Another problem I have with this issue is why I can't add more than 3 pairs of points in the manual registration.Always crashes the CC after the fourth pair of points.
Otherwise the error after the 3rd pair is only a few mm and scale is allowed as well.
Thanks.

Regarding the crash, which version are you using? I can't reproduce your bug with the latest version at least (2.14.alpha) but this part of the code has not been modified for quite some time. Don't hesitate to share your cloud with me (admin@cloudcompare.org) so that I can try to reproduce this on my side.
And regarding the use of ICP after using the align tool: it generally works (at least with dense clouds). The main conditions are:
- that the reference (static) cloud should be the most dense
- and with the largest coverage if possible. Else you have to play with the 'overlap' percentage so that CC is aware that not all the points of the to-be-aligned cloud should be used for alignment.
