Surface reconstruction

Post by earthcub3d »

Hi,

I am trying to reconstruct the original and the failure surface of a slip.

The problem I am having is that there are no points to constrain the toe of the slide. I was wondering if there was any way to force the model by using a polyline as a breakline? Or any way to somehow add some points to fill in the gaps a little

I have tried running polylines across from the points bordering the slip and creating a mesh, then subsampling the points on the mesh but this still doesn't do a great job.

I was wondering if anyone is trying to do a similar thing and has a work-around or some way to do this.

i have attached some photos to illustrate what I am talking about.

Thanks!

Update:

I created a mesh from polylines across the toe, then subsampled the points of that mesh. Results are better!

I wouldn't have suggested anything better ;).

Creating meshes is an art...
