There are a lot of processes for point cloud simplifications.

What is currently the best, state of the art, for those algorythms?

It's a Spanish team from 2003, so there must by many more enhancements and advances to all point cloud simplification processes?

Fascinating topic!!! I love that kind of geometry!!! please don't hesitate to give ample theoretical comments on the topic!!!

Frankly, I don't know ;)

I have a natural distrust for scientific articles that try to make you believe that they are presenting something simple (why they are not) and that only show their results on tiny and clean point clouds.

Sadly it represents about 90% of the articles ;)

Of course if the code of one of these methods is available (and written in C++) I'll gladly test it :D.
