Facets plugin

Hei,
I'm trying the plugin Facets and trying to figure out what values that I should use for the criteria/conditions for the kd-Tree. I have read the article "FACETS : A CLOUDCOMPARE PLUGIN TO EXTRACT GEOLOGICAL PLANES FROM UNSTRUCTURED 3D POINT CLOUDS" and tried to find suitable values for my max distances. However, I don't really understand the difference between the "Kd-Tree cell fusion parameters" and the "Facets".
What is the difference between Facets Max distance and Kd-tree max relative distance? The statistical value calcuclated as described in the article applies to which distance?
Any other tips for using the Facets plugin?
