index editing principle

Dear friend

I have a question about the point index. Is the point cloud index coding sequence consistent with the scanning sequence of the laser scanner? what is the index editing principle in cloudcompare. Does it have anything to do with the order of the laser scanning? Or what kind of relationship?

Thank you so much!

So I guess the question of the consistency with the scanning sequence will actually depend on the file format/scanner. Since CloudCompare reads the points from a file, and keeps the original order of the file.

And if you generate the scalar field of indexes and then later edit this scalar field (I guess that's what you 'index editing'?) then it won't change the points order. It's just a scalar field. Normally, CC will never change the points order (apart if you remove some points of course).
